The Outdoor Environment

The outdoor classroom is set up with a strong physical aspect in mind and lots of large equipment. There is a mixture of gross motor and fine motor activities for the children to access.

The environment is very different to that of the indoor classroom; however attainment and progress are still measured carefully.

The equipment is provided outside to enhance the planned learning and staff use open ended questions to challenge the children.

Although the children wear bands in this area (to limit the numbers for safety purposes) there is a regular ‘swapping’ time to enable all children to access the outdoor classroom if they would like to.
